Our Mission
The Club is a not-for-profit community organization that provides opportunities to men and women, girls and boys, to play cricket and participate in related athletic, recreational, and social activities. It is also dedicated to the upkeep of its traditional home ground, Walker Park, as historical and cultural treasure of Staten Island and New York.
The Club membership is drawn from local communities, in particular immigrant communities of Caribbean and South Asian origin. Philosophically and practically, the Club is vigorously diverse, with a membership that embraces ethnicities, religions, cultural and economic backgrounds of every kind. The ethos of the club is to strongly encourage the ideals of sportsmanship, fair play, mutual respect, and hospitality.
The Club provides facilities, equipment, and personnel to coach and teach anyone, youth or adult, who shows an interest in learning and playing the game. It offers a gratis Youth Cricket Program for local boys and girls. Along with cricket skills, the Youth Program instills respect, cooperation, and self-belief.
The Club maintains a "Good Neighbor" policy of outreach to its neighbors and the community in which it operates. The Club believes in being a good member of the Staten Island community. Simultaneously, the Club maintains a tradition of welcoming visitors from all over the cricketing world to Staten Island and to Walker Park.
The Club is deeply committed to the preservation of Walker Park as a historic and functioning venue of New York cricket. The New York Parks department, which owns Walker Park, has long recognized the Club's role as a custodian of the park. Pursuant to its custodial responsibility, the Club seeks out financial and strategic partnerships with institutional and corporate partners with the objective of maintaining and improving the cricket facilities and cricketing character of Walker Park.
